'50s
Don Hoeft '53 retired from General Motors Export Division with 44 years in 48 countries after receiving an MBA from Columbia University, New York. He is director of The Society of Automotive Historians in Michigan and is presently writing a book on the history of G.M. Export, founded in 1911.
Roger A. Schoumacher '58 retired from TRC Environmental Corporation last July. He had previously worked for the Iowa Conservation Commission, West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a biologist and project manager. He resides in Laramie, Wyoming, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
'60s
H. Reese Hansen '64 was recently nominated to be 2010 president of the Association of American Law Schools. He is former dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
Along with his wife, Cheryl Young, Dr. David W. Young '67, a retired dentist, is currently president/owner of Perigee Learning LLC. They have authored seven books on wholesome outdoor activities. The collection is offered world-wide in nine languages as a virtual reference collection for libraries. The Young's are presently writing an additional six books to be added to the collection.
Allen Harrison '68 retired as executive director of the Bear Lake Regional Commission, an 11–member board of elected officials and residents representing cities and counties in that area.
'70s
Kent Jones '75 was nominated by Utah Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., (and later confirmed by the state Senate) to direct the Division of Water Rights. Prior to his appointment, Jones was responsible for reviewing all applications filed for water use in the state. His experience also included directing the well drilling program, dam inspections and administering the Stream Channel Alteration program.
Jan S. Moncur '73 was awarded the KSL/Zion's Bank Teacher Feature, which highlights outstanding teachers in the State of Utah. She is teaching at Brighton High School in Salt Lake City.
Sheila (Van Ausdal) Breen '74 '74MS has been selected Director of the American International School of Vienna. She will begin her new duties July 1, 2009. Dr. Breen is currently superintendent of the Grand Canyon Unified School District and was named All Arizona School Superintendent for the 2007–08 school year.
Jeffrey H. Jacobs '74 has completed 25 years in ophthalmic photography and is currently at Retina Center of Nebraska in Hastings. He is one of fewer than 450 people worldwide certified in this branch of photography.
Al Lewis '75 was presented the Distinguished Service Award by the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation. Among other assignments, he is the voice of Aggie football and men's basketball.
'80s
Dixie Allen '80 , of Vernal, Utah, has been elected the vice chairwoman of the State Board of Education.
Col. R. Wane Schneiter '80 '82PhD is Deputy Superintendent for Academics and Dean of the Faculty at Virginia Military Institute. Most recently, he was head of the Institute's department of civil and environmental engineering, and was promoted to brigadier general.
Brian K. Sorenson '80 currently residing in Colorado, but raised in Utah, has returned from a one–year deployment to Afghanistan as a USDA Provincial Reconstruction Team Agricultural Advisor.ı
Judy McKinney Cherry '82CEcD has recently completed six years as the Cabinet Secretary for Economic Development in the State of Delaware. She was the first female to be nominated and confirmed by the Senate for the post and is the longest serving cabinet official for the department. She is a certified economic development professional and has been re–elected to the Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council through 2010.
Elliott N. Taylor '82 has joined the Salt Lake City office of Parsons Behle and Latimer. He is a member of the Corporate and Tax department and represents clients in securities law. Taylor has represented clients in a broad range of industries, including high technology, alternative energy, environmental remediation, mining, oil and gas, real estate and finance. Before joining the firm, Taylor was executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel at Amerityre Corporation. He earned his J.D. in 1986 from the University of Tulsa.
Bernice “Bunny” Sterin '84MS has been appointed the National Landscape Conservation System Program Lead for the Utah Bureau of Land Management in Salt Lake City.
Shelley Locke '85 recently began a four–year term on the State Board of Education.
'90s
Craig Turner '90 earned the Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation, a national accreditation awarded through the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
Paul Rhoads'91MEd has been hired as the head football coach at Iowa State University. Rhoads served as graduate assistant at Utah State under former coach Chuck Shelton.
Iva GreyWolf '92PhD was named director ofı the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Human Resources Department. She is a licensed psychologist, a nationally certified addictions counselor and a certified clinical supervisor.
Brian Jensen '92 was named Farmer of the Year in Franklin, County, Idaho, for 2008. He earned a degree in agricultural economics from Utah State University and once worked as a statistician for the USDA.
Paul Schvaneveldt '92 '95MS , Associate Professor of Child and Family Studies at Weber State University has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct research and lecture at the University of Azuay in Ecuador. Schvaneveldt will develop and evaluate a culturally competent family literacy program among children and families from less privileged backgrounds. He will also teach a research methods course. He is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
James Swink '94 is the new Cache County Attorney, replacing George Daines III '72, who resigned earlier this year. Swink had been deputy county attorney for nearly 11 years.
Steven G. Loertscher '96 , recently earned an LL.M from the George Washington University Law School's environmental law program, graduating with highest honors. He currently serves as the Environmental Liaison Officer to Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.
Steven Larsen MD '97 was chosen as Portneuf Medical Center's Physician of the Year 2008. After graduating from USU, he attended the University of Utah School of Medicine. He did his radiology residency in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University. Now settled in Pocatello, Idaho, with his wife, Susie Larsen '97, and family, he received the honor after only 1 1/2 years' affiliation with Portneuf Medical Center.
Michael Clarke Johnsen '98MEd was appointed by Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., to the Utah State Board of Education. He has 40 years of experience in teaching and administration. He retired last July as superintendent of the Tooele School District.
Kevin Corner '98 was named principal at Cross Middle School in Tucson, Arizona.

Kenna Sorensen '00MEd was appointed principal at Draper Elementary in Utah's Jordan School District.
Lillith Fields Bear '01 celebrated the release of her independent film “Dead Noon” to DVD in February. The film was a collaboration of friends and was made for only $4,000. It was bought and distributed by Lion's Gate.
Benjamin Riley '01 currently works as the Managing Director of 4Life Research in Australia and New Zealand.
Landon Day '03 has been promoted to general manager of Learfield Sports' Aggie Sports Properties, which handles a variety of marketing efforts for Utah State University Athletics. ASP is part of Learfield Sports, a Dallas–based company that manages the multimedia rights for nearly 50 collegiate institutions and associations.
Rod Hammer '91 '03MS has been appointed the new Cache Valley Fire Chief. Hammer has been a volunteer firefighter in Lewiston, Utah, for the past 12 years.
Paul W. Spitzer '03MS was promoted to Director, Lean Tools and Development with SPX Corporation, a multi–Industrial Fortune 500 manufacturing firm.
Todd A. Bischoff '05'05 MS received his Utah Professional Engineer license. He has been involved in the structural design of several local projects, including the Logan Regional Hospital Women and Newborn Center, the Great Wolf Lodge and Resort in Grand Mound, Washington, Weber State University's Shepherd Student Union Renovation, and the Davis Conference Center Expansion.
Cade Brenchley '05 is a Utah Highway Patrol trooper and was chosen as Trooper of the Year in his section (Summit and Wasatch counties) for 2008. He also received awards for the most drug arrests and the most DUI arrests for his section.
Shelly Ryan '05 currently works in the Davis School District as a first grade teacher and earned a master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix in Fall of 2008.
Jeff Brimhall '06MEd, boys basketball coach at Utah's Logan High, was named 3A Coach of the Year.
Ryan Cook '06 was promoted to Regional Information Systems Manager in Warrensburg, Missouri, for Schreiber Foods. He is pursuing an MBA from the University of Central Missouri.
Corey Melaney '08MEd was named boy's basketball coach at Freemont High in Plain City, Utah.
